Piling Mat For Cross Rail London
A customer working on the Cross Rail project in London asked us to provide blocks to construct a piling mat at the Charing Cross Station site.
The customer was a demolition contractor preparing the site for the main contractor.
The site was surrounded by buildings that required protection.
There was a risk the piling plant may slip and cause a major incident. The risk was designed out by constructing a piling mat foundation 1.8m wide x 3m high x 60m long
The piling mat was built using Virtabloc 1800 x 600 x 600 blocks
The operating space on site was tight so a delivery schedule was created. We held a stock of blocks at our manufacturing facility to feed them in as the site works progressed.
Once the wall was built, it was backfilled with crushed demolition material. A concrete raft was then cast over the fill and wall to give a working platform for the piling plant.
